This work began in November 2020, when California was heading into the worst period of the pandemic. Dr. Andrea Tenner, M.D., from the San Francisco Department of Public Health had the idea to invite artists to paint murals at the field hospital. Studies have shown that art in hospitals has the capacity to help heal patients. For many artists the practice of art is healing in its very inception.
